Activities in Österlen

In our cosy area in Degeberga on beautiful Österlen, there are activities for the whole family all year round. Here you can play tennis, badminton, volleyball or football and go for a run on our 2 or 5 kilometre jogging trails, where the shorter loop is electrically lit for evening exercise. Large green areas invite you to play and picnic, and for those who want to exercise more, there is both an outdoor gym and a playground for children. Stay at Degeberga Stugby and be close to swimming, bike hire and experience all that beautiful Österlen has to offer.

Rent a bike in Österlen

One of the best ways to experience Österlen is from the bike saddle. With us you can rent a bike directly on site for SEK 120 per day or SEK 600 per week. From the cottage village you can cycle towards Degeberga centre, about two kilometres away, where you will find shops to complete the picnic basket for the tour. Then continue towards Vittskövle Castle along a winding country road of about four kilometres. Here you can pause and enjoy the historic castle environment.

The tour then continues south towards Olseröd through the beautiful avenues around the castle. After five minutes, you enter a forest and turn left at the sign "Kärrfästorna". Along the way you pass both farms and mink farms, and here the famous saying that Skåne is flat as a pancake is really noticeable. After eight kilometres you reach open fields and small country roads leading towards Furuboda. At around 13 kilometres you pass the rehabilitation centre there and shortly afterwards you cycle along the sea.

Along the way there are small detours down to the sandy beach, which makes the trip extra pleasant during the summer. As you continue past Friseboda, you reach Rigeleje, where a beach kiosk offers coffee or ice cream for those who want to take a break. At 20 kilometres, the road starts to climb towards Olseröd, and here it is recommended to take breaks to enjoy the landscape. In Olseröd, there are several local craftsmen to discover before continuing along the roads between Ystad and Kristianstad.

The last part of the tour offers dirt roads that wind like a roller coaster through beech forests and valleys. At the Rallaté Valley, about 32 kilometres into the tour, you can stop to eat the last of your picnic basket while enjoying the peace and quiet and the views. You will then return to Degeberga Stugby, tired but full of impressions from nature and the coastal landscape. In total, the tour is about 35 kilometres long and offers a perfect mix of exercise, culture, nature and relaxation.

Renting a bike in Österlen gives you the freedom to experience both the hilly inland landscape and the long sandy beaches of Hanöbukten. For more tips on cycling tours, you can also visit Kristianstad municipality's tourist office, where there are several other routes to discover.

There is room here both for those who want to swim for exercise and for those who want to spend a day filled with play and relaxation. The pool is within easy walking distance and is a popular feature on hot days. This makes it easy to combine swimming with other activities in the area and create a varied stay.
